I'm out of helm for a while...
I can start having fun again between November 10 and November 24 but can’t really have a life until December 15th and January 15th.
Doctor said I have second grade tears in the gastrocnemius and the soleus and a third grade in the plantaris muscle. When I asked him if it was serious, he said it was serious enough to not mess around but not serious enough to think about surgery just yet but that the plantaris worries him the most. I really really didn’t like the “just yet” and that he’s worried about my plantaris.
He said to wrap it if I go for longer walks like grocery shopping or when I’m in the kitchen. He told me what to use to wrap it but I can’t remember the name, he said that I can find that at a pharmacy. What’s the best wrapper? He told me to use a cane if I feel the need (I don’t want to…).
He doesn’t want to see me doing any sports for 8-10 weeks, he said the grade 3 worries him a bit (and by saying that, he worried me a lot). I can start slow work in 8-10 weeks but I can’t fight at normal speed until 3-4 months. Diagnostic works for both heavy and rapier since he said that the weight of the armour wasn’t the issue, it’s the movements. After explaining to him the drills, he said that if I wrap/brace my leg, I could still do some pell work, but stay gentle on the leg and if there’s some drill I can do sitting down, that it’s good to. After seeing the bruises on my legs, he wants me to avoid getting hit until I stop walking with a limp.
